Governor Sani
By GARBA MUHAMMAD, Kaduna
Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has declared that his administration has repositioned the state for growth, citing significant strides in security, education, health and economic development.
The governor spoke at a workshop for senior government officials organised by the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) as part of the ongoing Nigeria Public Relations Week, Croc City 2026, in Kaduna.
The workshop, Saturday April 18, 2026, themed “From Policy To Public Trust: Strategic Communication For Vision Alignment And Governance Delivery For Renewed Hope,” brought together commissioners, special advisers, counsellors, permanent secretaries and other top officials.
Sani said he inherited a state with immense potential but burdened by security challenges, infrastructure deficits and weak social indicators, which required urgent and deliberate intervention.
According to him, his administration moved beyond incremental adjustments to a disciplined reorientation of governance anchored on measurable impact.
He explained that a performance framework built around Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) was institutionalised to ensure accountability across ministries, departments and agencies.
The governor added that his development agenda is driven by seven interconnected pillars: security, infrastructure, institutional strengthening, trade and investment, agriculture, human capital development and citizen engagement.
Describing security as the foundation of development, Sani said his administration collaborated with the Office of the National Security Adviser and military authorities to establish new bases in Giwa, Birnin Gwari and Southern Kaduna.
He added that over 150 operational vehicles and 500 motorcycles were deployed to security agencies, while more than 20,000 hectares of farmland have been reclaimed.
The governor further disclosed that over 1,000 displaced persons have been resettled, with continued support for more than 117,000 internally displaced persons, particularly women and children.
He noted that Kaduna established Northern Nigeria’s first forensic laboratory and launched the Kaduna Incident Report Centre (KAD-IR) to provide round-the-clock emergency response, alongside early warning systems and community peace structures under the “Kaduna Peace Model.”
On education, Sani said 736 classrooms have been constructed, over 1,200 renovated, while 10,000 teachers were recruited and more than 33,000 personnel trained.
He added that the number of out-of-school children has dropped from about 550,000 to 187,720 within two years, with efforts ongoing to align education with economic needs through vocational and technical training in ICT, mechatronics and renewable energy.
In the health sector, the governor said 255 primary healthcare centres were upgraded to Level-2 facilities, 23 centres of excellence established across local government areas and a 300-bed specialist hospital delivered to reduce medical tourism.
He disclosed that about 150 road projects covering over 1,300 kilometres are ongoing across the 23 local government areas to boost connectivity and economic activities.
Sani also said the state’s agricultural budget increased from ?1.48 billion in 2023 to over ?74 billion, with over 900 trucks of fertiliser distributed and more than 100,000 farmers enrolled in insurance schemes.
According to him, Kaduna has attracted over $743 million in investments, with a pipeline of $2.77 billion, bringing total investment commitments to more than $3.5 billion.
In his presentation, NIPR President Ike Neliaku stressed the need for principal officers of government to understand and align with the vision of their principals in order to effectively communicate policies and build public trust.
