Governor of Anambra State and national leader of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, Chukwuma Soludo, has unveiled new guidelines for the party’s forthcoming primaries, announcing the adoption of Option A4 to enhance transparency and curb electoral malpractice.

Soludo made the announcement while addressing party members at the South-east zonal convention held at the International Convention Centre in Awka, where he warned against bribery, favouritism, and monetisation of the primary process.

Explaining the decision, the governor said the Option A4 system—where voters queue openly behind their preferred candidates—would eliminate vote buying and manipulation associated with secret ballots.

“We are going to adopt Option A4 in all our primary elections this season. The essence is that once you look back and see a long line behind you, you know you are winning,” he said.

He criticised the culture of treating party primaries as a money-making venture, noting that such practices weaken candidates ahead of general elections.

Soludo also directed that aspirants must commit to a single elective position, warning that the party would no longer tolerate individuals pursuing multiple ambitions simultaneously.

“If you want to run for a position, make up your mind. We will not allow people to hold one office and still be preparing for another,” he said.

The governor further banned aspirants from visiting party executives at their homes for inducement, insisting that all engagements must take place at official party offices.

Earlier, APGA National Chairman, Sly Ezeokenwa, outlined a code of conduct aimed at reinforcing discipline and internal democracy within the party.

He stressed that the leadership is committed to reforming party processes and restoring credibility ahead of future elections. (AriseNews TV)
