The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) has rejected explanations offered by the presidency regarding President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s absence from scheduled engagements in Lagos State.

The Presidency had attributed the President’s inability to attend some functions to ongoing security briefings.

But HURIWA National Coordinator, Comrade Emmanuel Onwubiko, described the explanation as misleading.

“A big fallacy! Even an idiot can see it as notoriously false,” Onwubiko said in an exclusive interview with News Express.

He questioned the claim that service chiefs travelled to Lagos for briefings, arguing that such engagements are traditionally conducted at the Presidential Villa.

“The service chiefs went to Maiduguri. Have they been recalled? If they were in Maiduguri or Abuja, they couldn’t have come to Lagos to brief him. It’s a white lie,” he said.

Onwubiko further insisted that the established protocol for security briefings does not support the explanation given.

“The lie is irreprehensible,” he added.
