Late British tourist, Johny Doherty
A missing British dad who went missing in Ibiza and who had not been seen since Monday morning has been found dead, according to investigators.
Johny Doherty, 28, had been celebrating a friend’s birthday at a rented villa on the party island but vanished sometime between 6am and 10am on Monday morning.
His family flew out to help search for Mr Doherty but his body was reportedly found floating in a bay near cliffs at Cap Martinet, close to the villa where he was last seen.
A source involved in the search operation told The Mirror: “Civil Guard divers recovered the body after it was spotted in the sea by a private individual.
“The body has been taken ashore and will be transferred to the island’s Institute of Forensic Medicine for a post-mortem.
“The man’s dad has confirmed it is Johny’s body.”
Mr Doherty, who grew up in Rutherglen in South Lanarkshire and lived in Glasgow, was discovered missing after concerned friends contacted people at the villa following the party and it was discovered his bed had not been slept in.
Investigators say there is nothing to suggest Mr Doherty’s death is suspicious at this stage.
An autopsy is set to be carried out to determine the cause of death. (The Mirror
