ATCON’s 5th Telecom Executives, Regulators Forum holds July 11, 2019

The Association of Telecommunications Companies of Nigeria (ATCON) will hold the 5th edition of Telecom Executives and Regulators Forum, one of its flagship events, on July 11, 2019 at the prestigious Fourpoints by Sheraton, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Mr. Olusola Teniola, President of ATCON, said in a statement that the association is providing the platform “for the purpose of accelerating and harnessing the changes that are taking place in the industry in order to grow the industry for all its teeming members who have made huge investments in the Nigerian telecom and ICT sector.” ATCON expects that “all critical stakeholders in the industry shall leverage on this rare opportunity to share their views, contribute their expertise and experiences to discuss best practices in their jurisdictions with a focus to growing and sustaining the industry.”

Topical industry issues to be discussed at the forum include “Formulation of Policy and Regulation for OTTs: Challenges and Prospects”; “Funding Telecoms Investment in Nigeria: How would the deficit in the Nigerian telecom infrastructure be financed?”; “Eradication of the influx of cloned and fake phones and other telecoms devices in Nigeria: The role of NCC, Nigerian Custom, SON, and other Relevant Government Agencies”; “Regulation and Policies on Cloud Computing and Cybersecurity threats in Nigeria”.

Executive Vice Chairman/CEO, Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Prof. Umar Garba Danbatta, and Director General, National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Dr. Isa Ali Ibrahim Patami, would deliver keynote addresses.

Other industry leaders selected to do justice to the issues and the topics include MainOne MD/CEO, Ms. Funke Opeke; Galaxy Backbone MD/CEO, Mr. Yusuf Kazure; and Rack Centre Limited MD/CEO, Mr. Ayotunde Coker. The panel discussants are leading figures in the Nigerian telecom and ICT sector.

Some of the stakeholders expected to attend the event are the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), MNOs/IDAs Operators, PNL/Fixed Line Operators and FINTECH/e-Commerce Operators. Others are OEMs, Interconnect/Data Centre Operators, Towers/Base Stations Providers, Consulting/Internet Services Providers (ISP), Value Added Services Providers (VAS) and Equipment Dealers. Other non-ICT but relevant organisations invited include Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON), banks, and Nigerian Customs Service, among others.
