Anambra CP, Garba Umar
The Anambra State Police Commissioner, Garba Umar has inaugurated a 4th Area Command of the Nigeria Police at Uga in Aguata Local Government Area.
The Aguata Area Command, which lies in a vast array of land, is located along Uga- Akokwa road, making it the fourth command in the State.
Others are: Awka, Onitsha and Nnewi Area Commands.
Speaking at the inauguration, the State Police Commissioner hailed a Nigeran-American based medical doctor, Dr. Godwin Maduka, for his numerous contributions that led to the actualisation of the Aguata Area Command of Nigerian Police.
He explained that the project, initiated by Uga community in 2017, would help to improve community policing in the state, especially in the four council areas, as well as the nine police divisions within the jurisdiction.
Umar further thanked APGA Senatorial aspirant for Anambra South, Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu, and people of Uga, for their doggedness in bringing the Police Area Command to fruition.
In his speech, the Area Commander of Aguata Area Command, Mr Adamu Bello called for adequate provision of gadgets and manpower to enable it function well.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Maduka said his aim of identifying with the police was to help in boosting their capacity to fight crime all over the country.
Contributing, a former Nigerian Ambassador to Spain, Mrs Bianca Ojukwu, explained that the Area Command would support government's efforts at providing effective security to the people.
In their separate speeches, the President General of Uga Improvement Union, Doctor Anthony Ekesiobi and the President of Uga Youths, Comrade Chukwuka Otiocha said they were optimistic that the structure would help to reduce crimes and criminalities in the area.
