By EDEKI IGAFE
The Police Command in Delta has arrested six suspected cultists in Abraka and Ethiope East Local Government areas of the state.
The spokesman for the command, SP Bright Edafe, disclosed this on Saturday to newsmen in Warri.
Edafe said that the suspects were apprehended on Friday by the operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit of the command, following credible information.
He said that the operatives stormed and raided a hotel
suspected to be a hideout for drug-related activities and nabbed the suspects.
“During the operation, six suspected cultists were arrested, while a bag containing firearm and substances suspected to be Indian hemp were recovered,” he said.
Edafe said that some of the accomplices fled the scene when they sighed the police operatives approaching the hotel.
He said that investigation was on course to establish the ownership and source of the recovered firearm.
Edafe added that effort was on top gear to identify other persons connected with the crime.
He said that the Commissioner of Police in charge of the command, Mr Samuel Erale, reiterated the command’s commitment to sustained intelligence-led operations in the state.
Edafe added that the commissioner appealed to residents to be vigilant and assist the police with credible information to curb criminal activities in the state. (NAN)
