New Abia Speaker, Rt Hon Bishop Kennedy Njoku
Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Martins Azubuike, has been removed from office.
He was impeached minutes ago in the state capital, Umuahia, thus vindicating News Express, which on Tuesday night broke the news of his imminent impeachment.
The 6th Abia Assembly was scheduled to reconvene from its recess tomorrow, but a majority of the members suddenly sat late this afternoon. The impeachment notice was signed by 20 out the 24 members of the House.
Hon. Kennedy Njoku of Osisioma North constituency was elected the new Speaker.
