In the net: Suspected Boko Haram terrorist Usman

A Boko Haram member arrested on Tuesday in Abuja has made a frightening confession: many of his colleagues are seeking refuge in the Federal Capital.

The Boko Haram militant, identified as Usman, gave the confession after his arrest by officials of Abuja Municipal Area Council, AMAC.

The suspect was arrested at exactly 4:30pm on Tuesday at Utako market shortly after he arrived the premises “with a Qur’an and a chaplet on his neck while trying to lobby people in the market.”

Kingsley Madaki, spokesman of local security outfit operating in the capital territory known as AMAC Marshal, said the man “confessed that there are so many of his colleagues out there in the city who are out to unleash mayhem on the innocent residents.”

Madaki called on the residents of the FCT and the AMAC residents especially to be vigilant and report any suspicious movement to AMAC Marshal Personnel, said that the organisation is out to ensure the safety of property and lives of the residents.

The suspect has been handed over to the Nigerian Army while the Marshal General of AMAC Marshal, Kasimm Isyaku Chicha, called on the residents of the capital city to be careful and stay at alert.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, had on Monday announced the arrest of a fleeing militant of the insurgent group in Ikorodu Lagos following the takeover of Camp Zero, the last Boko Haram stronghold in Sambisa Forest, Borno State over the weekend. (NAN)
