Christmas: Abia Speaker urges continued faith in God

The Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly and Deputy National Chairman, Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures in Nigeria, Rt. Hon. Martins Okechukwu Azubuike, has urged Abians and Nigerians in general to keep faith with God and rededicate themselves to virtues of love, mutual tolerance, honesty, equity, justice and fair play as Christians all over the world celebrate this year’s Christmas.

In a release endorsed by his Chief Press Secretary, Prince Clinton Uba, Rt. Hon. Azubuike assured Abians that “God has not given up on us.” He noted that there are better days ahead, no matter the present economic situation in the country caused by recession, which has thrown up many other challenges, urging Abians that “one of the ways to tackle our myriad of problems is to strengthen the bonds of unity with love for one another in line with the spirit of Christmas.”

The Speaker further expressed the avowed determination of Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu-led administration to change the fortune of the State through prompt payment of salaries, continued infrastructural development and capacity building.

Rt. Hon. Azubuike thanked the Honourable Members, Management and Staff of Abia 6th Assembly for the peace and love that exists in the legislative environment. He commended them for their hard work, commitment and determination, giving them credit for whatever successes the Assembly has recorded so far, while wishing them a happy celebration.
