Two soldiers attached to 63 Brigade of the Nigerian Army have died following a road traffic accident in Oshimili South Local Government Area of Delta State.
Military sources disclosed that troops responded to reports of the accident on May 30 along 74 Road in the area.
According to the sources, preliminary findings indicated that the two soldiers were riding on a motorcycle when they were struck by a vehicle.
The victims were immediately evacuated to the 63 Brigade Medical Centre for treatment but were confirmed dead on arrival by medical personnel.
Following the incident, the driver of the vehicle involved in the crash was apprehended by security personnel.
Sources said the suspect was subjected to drug tests and reportedly tested positive for cannabis and cocaine.
The suspect has since been handed over to the 63 Provost Company for further investigation and necessary action.
