Aggressive construction of roads soon to commence in Anambra —Obiano

The administration of Governor Willie Obiano is making plans to embark on an aggressive construction of roads in the state in the coming weeks to improve on the network of roads that have either been abandoned or dilapidated.

The governor made the disclosure weekend during a Thanksgiving Service held at St. John’s Church, Oko, to mark the 60th Birthday of Chief Mrs. Ifeoma Ekwueme, wife of former Vice-President, Dr Alex Ekwueme.

He said that contractors handling road projects across the state have already been mobilized, adding that with the rainy season coming to an end, work will commence on the roads soon.

Obiano noted that eight out of the 27 investments his administration had attracted in the state totaling about $4.7 billion are fully on ground, creating activities that have not only generated wealth but job opportunities for the people.

While felicitating with the celebrant, Governor Obiano described her as a great woman who at 60 has left no one in doubt as to her integrity.

He commended the former Vice-President, Dr. Alex Ekwueme, whose intervention the governor said, made the Federal Government agree to address the Oko erosion site saying that his fatherly role has been valuable to the state governance.

The event attracted dignitaries from within and outside the state including Deputy Senate President, Dr Ike Ekweremadu, former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Chief Anyim Pius Anyim, and Senator Joy Emodi, among others.
