The Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Adams, has described the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Owoade I, as a beacon of hope and unity for the Yoruba people.

Adams made the remark while congratulating Oba Owoade on the occasion of his first-year coronation anniversary.

In a statement, yesterday, the Aare Ona Kakanfo said the milestone marked a significant year of dedicated leadership, cultural preservation, and the promotion of Yoruba heritage.

Adams emphasised that the Alaafin’s leadership continues to inspire and strengthen Yoruba cultural heritage, fostering pride and solidarity among the people.

The Aare Ona Kakanfo reaffirmed his commitment to the security, peace, and prosperity of the South-West region and the nation at large under Alaafin’s esteemed leadership.

He also expressed optimism that, together, they would uphold the traditions and values that define the Yoruba people.

Adams, therefore, wished the Alaafin a prosperous reign on the throne of his forebears, blessed with wisdom, good health, sound mind, and continued success.

MEANWHILE, the Alaafin has dismissed speculations of rifts with Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, and the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, describing his relationship with both leaders as cordial.

The monarch, who spoke with journalists in Oyo Town, said there was no misunderstanding between him and the governor.

“I have nothing against the government. The governor has been very nice. If there is anything, I will meet him one-on-one,” he said.

The monarch also debunked rumours of a strained relationship with the Olubadan, insisting that both of them maintain mutual respect and understanding.

“My relationship with the Olubadan is cordial. Some people lie online to join the popular bandwagon. There is no misunderstanding,” he said.

He blamed the spread of false narratives on bloggers and individuals seeking attention, noting that such developments are part of the realities of occupying a revered traditional stool.

He, however, emphasised that he harbours no grievances against any individual or institution.

“I have nothing against anybody,” he stated.

Oba Owoade also expressed appreciation to members of the media for their consistent support of the palace, describing journalists as partners in progress.

He reiterated his commitment to peace, unity, and development, urging the public to disregard unfounded rumours and support traditional institutions. (Guardian)
