APC Governors
The Progressives Governors Forum (PGF), comprising governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), is set to convene in Lagos today for a crucial meeting.
The meeting, hosted by Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, will take place at Eko Hotel and Suites in Victoria Island later this afternoon.
The gathering coincides with the presence of President Bola Tinubu in Lagos for the Eid-el-Fitr break ahead of his return to Abuja.
As of March 2026, the APC controls 31 out of Nigeria’s 36 states, reflecting a significant consolidation of political power and a near two-thirds majority across the federation. The party’s growing dominance has been bolstered by recent defections from opposition parties.
The PGF Is expected to deliberate on strategies to align state-level policies with the agenda of the federal administration.
Recall that the Forum last met in Lagos in December 2025 at the same venue, in a session attended by party leaders and key stakeholders, where a range of national issues were discussed.
The Forum, chaired by Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, had at the end of that meeting issued a communiqué expressing confidence in Nigeria’s future as a united, peaceful, and prosperous nation.
During the previous meeting, members reviewed the country’s security situation and commended President Tinubu for what they described as improved coordination among federal, state, and local security structures, as well as the efforts of security agencies and community volunteers. (Sunday Vanguard)
