The National Leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged Nigerians to be patient with the current administration led by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Tinubu was speaking on Monday during the launch of a book titled, ‘Muhammadu Buhari: The Challenges of Leadership in Nigeria’, at the International Conference Centre, Abuja.

He said Buhari’s “slow but steady” approach to governance was a result of his past experience as a Military ruler.

Tinubu also admitted that Buhari had surprised many party leaders with his agility and insisted that he was still the right man to move Nigeria forward.

He also said the choice of Yemi Osinbajo as Buhari’s running mate in the 2015 presidential election proved that the president was not intolerable to religious difference as it was suggested.

“There was the issue of selecting a running mate and after a careful study and discussion, it was agreed that we should fill the religious balance ticket, given the sensitivity of the moment.”

“Based on this conclusion, the name of a renowned professor, Yemi Osinbajo, the professor of love and former Lagos state attorney-general during my time as governor was proposed and accepted as running mate.

“Osinbajo was also a pastor in the largest church in the country, this for those trying to paint Muhammadu Buhari as intolerant religious leader.”

Nigeria is currently in a recession after official Data from the country’s bureau of statistic showed that its gross domestic product (GDP) contracted by 2.06 percent in the second quarter, sending Africa’s biggest economy into a recession after a decline in the first quarter.

As a result of the recession, the opposition Peoples Democratic Party had called for the resignation of Buhari. (TV360 Nigeria)
