After many months of grace, President Goodluck Jonathan today finally wielded the big stick, sacking nine under-performing cabinet ministers.
They are Prof. Ita Okon Bassey Ewa, Minister Science and Technolgy; Ambassador Gbenga Ashiru, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Dr. Shamshudeen Usman, Minister of National Planning;
Professor Ruquayattu Rufa’i, Minsiter of Education; Ms Amma Pepple, Minister of Housing and Urban Development; and Hajia Hadiza Malaifia, Minister of Environment.
Three ministers of state were affected. They are Ms. Zainab Kuchi, Minister of State for Power; Olusola Obada,Minister of State for Defence; and Bukarr Tijani, Minister of State for Agriculture.
The sack was announced by President Jonathan at today’s federal Executive Council Meeting. He thanked the dismissed minsters for their services and wished them luck in their future endeavours.
