Court restrains parties in respect of Ikoyi property
As the leadership crisis in the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) lingers, a member of the Abia State Chapter, Mr. David Onyebuchi Amalaha, has approached the Umuahia Division of the Abia State High Court, urging it to determine the authentic leadership of the Association (AGN).
He also prayed the court to make three orders and grant him the sum of fifty million naira as general damages.
He did so in a suit marked No/HC/UM/CS/92/2025, between David Onyebuchi Amalaha (Plaintiff) and Ejezie Emeka Rollas (Defendant), which was filed on his behalf on 20th May 2025 by Dr. U.R. Ndubuka, an Umuahia-based legal practitioner.
Amalaha is a member of the Abia State Chapter of the AGN, while the defendant is stated in the suit to be representing the National Executive of the AGN, Abuja.
The orders sought are: setting aside the election approved by the AGN Board of Trustees (BOT) that elected Ejezie Emeka Rollas as the National President and his executives.
The second order is mandating Ejezie Emeka Rollas and his executives to stop parading themselves as the National Executives of the AGN.
The third order seeks that all monies withdrawn from the account of the AGN since 2019 till date by the defendant be returned to the bank account of the AGN or refunded.
Besides the orders, the plaintiff Amalaha seeks fifty million naira (N50m) as general damages from the defendant.
The matter is slated for hearing on Tuesday, 24th June 2025.
Confirming this development, the Abia State AGN Chapter Project Director, Mr. Nathaniel Udo Nwoko, who spoke in the presence of the Public Relations Officer/Chief Whip, Mr. Emeka Onyekwere, said that the suit became necessary for the court to declare who is the authentic AGN leadership, executives, among others.
He alleged that a lot of illegalities and wrongs have been ongoing in the AGN under Rollas and his leadership.
Nwoko also alleged that despite a duly approved and conducted election that produced Mr. David Amalaha as the Abia Chapter Chairman, rather than allow him (Amalaha) to function, a non-member of the state chapter based in Lagos was imposed by the Rollas-led national leadership on the state chapter.
