Mercy Johnson-Okokie, Nollywood diva
Actress Mercy Johnson-Okojie has addressed rumours about her health, denying claims that she was diagnosed with cancer.
In a widely shared video, she explained that a clip from her TV show, Mercy’s Menu, was misinterpreted.
The actress noted that she experienced a “cancer scare” due to a swelling in her neck, which her doctors initially feared could be serious due to thyroid issues.
However, she emphasised that she is perfectly fine and I do not have cancer.
The actress said: “Thank you so much to all of you who have been calling and sending messages and prayers. But I do not have cancer. I noticed that a clip from my TV show, ‘Mercy’s menu’ has been flying around and it was a cut clip.
“I said I had a cancer scare. It means I had this swelling on my neck and my doctors thought it was something serious. I had problems with my thyroids.
“I am perfectly fine and I do not have cancer. The clip was completely misunderstood”.
In the original viral clip, Mercy recounted the challenging period when she faced cancer scare, which required thyroid surgery while she was caring for her six-month-old last child.
She expressed gratitude to fans for their concern, calls, messages, and prayers, reassuring them of her well-being. (The Nation: Text, Excluding Headline)
