Adeola, the daughter of veteran Nollywood actress, Jumoke George, has returned to Nigeria from Mali after being missing for four years.

Her return was announced on Monday by the Chairperson of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, who received Adeola upon arrival in Nigeria.

“Breaking! Adeola, daughter of popular actress Jumoke George, who cried out that she had not heard from her daughter in four years, is back home from Mali, where she was trafficked,” Dabiri-Erewa wrote in a post on her official X (formerly Twitter) handle.

Photos released by the NiDCOM chair show a tearful reunion as Adeola embraced Dabiri-Erewa upon her return, alongside actress Biola Adebayo and actor Adeniyi Johnson, who have supported the family’s public search for Adeola.

Recall that Jumoke George had earlier shared her ordeal in an emotional appearance on the TalkToB show, hosted by actress Abiola Adebayo.

Speaking through tears, the veteran actress revealed how she endured years of pain and silence over her daughter’s disappearance.

“There are some things that are embarrassing to say, but at this point, I have no choice. I want to speak out. I am working, but it’s not like I get jobs every time,” she said.

“My first child, Adeola, has been missing. I’ve been looking for her for the past four years. Any small amount of money I got from work was spent looking for her.”

Jumoke recounted that her daughter had been living in Ibadan with her grandmother when she suddenly vanished.

“She was in Ibadan, where she was working and living with my mother. So my mother just called me one day to say that she hadn’t seen Deola, who said she was coming to meet me in Lagos. I said I haven’t seen her,” the actress explained.

After years of silence, Adeola eventually reached out to her mother, asking for forgiveness. She revealed that she had travelled out of the country with friends in search of a better life, but their plans had gone awry.

Meanwhile, Dabiri-Erewa commended actress Biola Adebayo for bringing the matter to public attention, as well as actor Niyi Johnson for his support.

“Just received her, with Biola Adebayo, who broke the story, and Niyi Johnson,” Dabiri-Erewa noted.

Jumoke George’s story had drawn widespread public sympathy after it was revealed that she had been living in a church for six years while battling health issues and the emotional toll of her daughter’s disappearance. (Channels TV)
