Singer Asake and his ailing father, Mr Fatai Odunsi
Grammy Awards-nominated artiste, Ahmed Ololade, popularly known as Asake, has responded to recent claims of abandoning his alleged ailing father, Mr Fatai Odunsi.
In a now-viral video on social media, Asake appeared to dismiss the allegations, insisting that he remains undeterred by public opinion.
According to him, it is impossible to please the world, adding that the most important thing is to do things for the sake of God Almighty alone.
“You can’t please the world. Everything you are doing, just be doing it for God, and remember the day we will leave this world. You can see how it is going? Even my father wants to cajole me, but I stand fit. You can dim my light. I do press money,” he said.
This comes after a video surfaced online showing an elderly man, identified as Mr Fatai Odunsi, claiming to be Asake’s biological father and appealing for help from the public.
Odunsi, who said he has been paralysed following a stroke, alleged that he had been abandoned by the artiste and had not seen him since March 2022.
He further claimed that his calls to Asake have gone unanswered and called on Nigerians to assist him with funds for his treatment.
In the clip sighted by Tribune Online, he said, “I am the biological father of Asake who is into music. Babatunde Ololade Ayinde Mr Money, I am his father. I want you Nigerians to assist me. When this thing (stroke) started on March 29, 2022 that was the last time I saw him. Even when I call his number, he doesn’t pick up and I am fed up.” (Nigerian Tribune: Text, Excluding Headline)
