Former UN worker Jason Melo, 24, has been accused of choking and beating his partner, and for subjecting her to the appalling treatment that he filmed and posted online.

Melo battered the terrified 22-year-old in front of her two-year-old daughter, US police sources told the New York Daily News.

He then allegedly threatened to kill her if she refused to strip then marched her out into the streets of Harlem in New York, US, before ripping off her towel and yelling foul abuse at her.

Melo turned himself in on Wednesday three days after the Sunday morning humiliation of the young woman.

In that time the video of the humiliation was met with horror by social media users.

The former UN caterer berates her in Spanish yelling things such as “Co-operate b****. Show what you are, so pretty and so great” and “She’s a tart. Let’s go. Let’s go. Say hi to the camera and say why you're doing this.”

Melo claims he was punishing her because he had caught her messaging seven other men, but she claims it was nothing to do with sex.

As footage of the degradation circulated online, one social media user wrote: “I don’t care what she did....this is abuse the guy should be arrested. If I saw a guy doing this to a women I’d beat his a***!”

Other social media users labelled Jason a “sick b******” and a “low-life scumbag.”

After subjecting the woman to the horrific ordeal Jason posted a video on Instagram where he appeared to justify his behaviour.

He said: “Gentlemen, I didn’t want to do any harm to the lady, she’s the mother of my child.

“But the guy who left the message, she was cheating with him, he’s going to rent a room for her, she’s going to go live with him.”

However, after his behaviour was met with horror and condemnation online, he posted another video in which he appeared to have changed his tune.

He even posted footage of himself crying in apparent remorse.

In another apologetic video he said: “Jason Melo here. I want to ask all women for forgiveness.

“I want them to know, that really, I didn’t want this to... I didn’t think this would get to this point.

“Maybe, I made a mistake, to do what I did, from the beginning to take her out naked.

“I really regret this.

“If I could turn back time I wouldn’t do it. Because in my mind, so much has happened to me.”

Melo has been charged and is due back in court on February 10. (The Sun, London)
