The Nigerian military will soon declare victory over Boko Haram insurgents, a reliable source close to it has told News Express.
“Very soon the military will declare total victory over the terrorists,” the source said last night in the wake of the news of the rescue of another set of 234 women and children from the formerly dreaded Sambisa Forest in Borno State, North-East Nigeria.
Troops of the 7 Division Nigerian Army had on Tuesday rescued 293 women and girls from Sambisa Forest, the last stronghold of Boko Haram. This was followed up with the rescue of more captives on Wednesday.
The expected victory declaration by the Nigerian military will bring an end to the six-year insurgency which once saw Boko Haram taking over and occupying several towns in the country’s North-East, leaving in its wake thousands of deaths and many more thousands of displaced people, who are now returning to rebuild their lives in their liberated communities.
