The World Igbo Congress (WIC) has condemned the abuse of judicial process by the Buhari administration, stating that the suppression of coequal arms of government is undemocratic and against the rule of law.

The Chairman, Board of Directors, WIC, Prof Anthony Ejiofor, said it is unfortunate that the country has reached an unbearable height, where the Vice President, a professor of law and a senior advocate could not put up a defence for the Constitution.

“This regime has drifted into an autocratic system, and the international community is now making a mockery of our democracy.

We are not in a fascist state as defined by PMB’s theory of National Security, but he has continued to destroy and desecrate our democratic institutions.

“It is doubtful that the nation will remain a constitutional democracy after this administration’s decimation of the rule of law. Nigerians gave them the power to strengthen democracy and not to exploit it to suite the regime, as seen in the violent elections and attempts by this administration to legitimise electoral crimes and appoint people’s representation, instead of conducting free and fair elections.”

In a statement by its Public Relations Officer, Hon. Basil Onwukwe, WIC stated that Nigeria cannot pretend to woo investors by contriving a propaganda where it suits it, whereas it abducts citizens in the courtroom, recklessly pick and choose which court order to obey. “These unconstitutional acts continue to send different messages to foreign investors, when it could have been avoided,” he said.
