Residents of Isuikwuato Local Government Area of Abia State are preparing for what many have described as a historic celebration as Governor Alex Otti is set to commission the newly constructed 10.8-kilometre Nunya–Eluama–Ogboro Road on Thursday, May 28, 2026.

The project, according to a statement issued by the Planning Committee (Media Sub-Unit), marks the end of decades of hardship endured by communities along the road corridor, where residents, motorists, farmers, traders and students reportedly struggled daily with a severely deteriorated road network.

“For decades, the road remained a painful symbol of neglect, hardship and broken promises,” the committee stated, noting that several previous administrations either neglected the road or carried out temporary repairs that failed after a short period.

The committee said the story has now changed under Governor Otti’s administration, describing the newly reconstructed road as a modern infrastructure project built to durable standards aimed at improving mobility, boosting economic activities and easing transportation for residents of Isuikwuato and neighbouring communities.

The project, it added, goes beyond road construction and represents “a bold statement that responsive leadership and purposeful governance can truly change the lives of the people.”

In appreciation of what it described as the governor’s commitment to infrastructure development and rural connectivity, the committee said residents across the local government are mobilising massively to receive the governor during the official commissioning ceremony.

Beyond the road inauguration, a grand civic reception in honour of Governor Otti is also scheduled to hold at the Isuikwuato High School (Annunco) Field, where community leaders, political stakeholders across party lines, youths, women groups, traditional rulers, business leaders and residents are expected to gather in large numbers.

The organisers further disclosed that invitations have been extended to friends, supporters and well-wishers of Isuikwuato to participate in what many residents have described as a celebration of visible governance and fulfilled promises.

Excitement, according to the committee, continues to spread across the area as preparations intensify for what is expected to be one of the biggest public gatherings in the local government in recent times.

“For many residents, the commissioning of the Nunya–Eluama–Ogboro Road represents more than infrastructure, it symbolizes restoration, inclusion and a new era of development under Governor Alex Otti’s administration,” the statement added.

The committee said residents “can no longer hide their excitement” as they prepare to celebrate what they believe will have a lasting positive impact on generations to come.
