Minister of Aviation, Chief Osita Benjamin Chidoka, has called for greater technical partnership between the ministry and the International Road Safety Organisation (IRSO).
He made the call yesterday afternoon while being honoured with a Medal Award by the IRSO in his office.
The minister, who appreciated the organisation for the award, remarked that to him, road safety is not a job but a passion. He added that IRSO has come a long way with the road safety family. He also said that the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), of which he was chairman before being appointed a minister months ago, is destined for greater heights as it has the requisite human resource to do so.
Chidoka promised effective mobility and safety of passengers in the air sector in Nigeria. He described both air and road safety as being very critical, saying that this makes the partnership with IRSO imperative. He said he was looking forward to sustainable technical partnership with the organisation
Presenting the Medal Award to Chidoka, IRSO President Joop Goos had said that it was a way to appreciate the minister for his great strides as FRSC Chairman and President of Africa Road Safety Organisation.
Goos said the impact Chidoka left in FRSC was unprecedented. He also said he was sure the minister would replicate and even do more in the air sector than he did in the road sector.
