Governor Makinde
The board of the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) has been dissolved. This is effective from July 1, 2019.
A letter released on Thursday and signed by the Head of Service, Mrs. Ololade Agboola, disclosed that the action was approved by the State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde. She noted that the state is aware that the tenure of members of the board has not yet expired, assuring that the State Government is prepared to offset salary and allowances payable to them till the expiration of their tenure.
The letter directed them to submit OYSIEC property in their care to the most senior director in the board.
The dissolution of the board is coming few days after Governor Makinde had promised to reorganise the commission and conduct fresh local government polls before April 2020.
News Expressreports that former governor Abiola Ajimobi inaugurated members of the dissolved OYSIEC in June 2016 with John Ajeigbe as Chairman and Sunday Aborisade, Adedeji Raimi, David Adeagbo, Omolola Odekunbi, Alhaji AbdulRazaq Akuru, Lateef Bello and Rasheed Olajire as members.
