The Anambra State Command on Monday paraded 113 suspected cultists arrested at different points in Anambra State.

Parading the suspects at the command headquarters in Amawbia, the State Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Ladodo, said the arrests were made by the Command’s Special Anti-Cult unit from March 11 till date.

He said that 45 of the suspects were charged to court, 35 screened out, while 33 others were still under investigation.

Ladodo reeled out exhibits recovered from the suspects to include one browning and locally made single barrel pistol, 7 live ammunition, axe, daggers, machetes and some quantities of dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.

Also paraded were members of a gang of robbers who specialise in car snatching.

The Commissioner said that a total of eight vehicles were recovered from the suspects.

According to him, one 42 years old Chukwuezugo Paul from Asaba in Delta State was nabbed when police operatives attached to the Command Special Anti-Cult unit went on investigation in Asaba in neighbouring Delta State.

He added that following a discreet investigation, his accomplice and gang leader, Michael Obinna a.k.a Mayor, was also arrested.

“The same syndicate robbed a woman of her Toyota Venza car at gunpoint,” Ladodo said.

Exhibits recovered from the suspects include 7 vehicles comprising of 3 Toyota Corolla, 1 black Toyota Venza, 1 Toyota Rav 4 Jeep and 2 Lexus 350 Jeeps,

Others include 1 beretta pistol with 10 rounds of 9mm ammunition, 1 Cutlass, 1 Samsung phone. 3 iPhones, and 1 black Lexus 350 car.
