The Osun State Signage, Hoarding and Advertisement Agency also known as O’Signage has issued a two weeks ultimatum to owners of billboards, posters and other forms of signage meant for advertisement to register with the agency and adhere to the best standard practice or face prosecution.

The Executive Vice Chairman of the agency, Dupe-Ajayi Gbadebo, in a press statement in Osogbo at the weekend said it has become imperative to regulate the pasting of posters and placement of signage in the state given the indiscriminate manner the major streets were defaced with posters and illegal billboards.

She warned that pasting of postal indiscriminately would no longer be allowed in any part of the state and that only those who register appropriately would be able to make use of the public space for advertisement purposes.

According to her, “Whether political or religious and any other type of poster or signage, the owners must register with government properly and the agency would guide them on the right way and appropriate places to paste posters or erect billboards.

“We could no longer tolerate the manner major streets have been defaced with posters and other signage and billboards. We appeal to whoever that wants to use public space for advertisement to come for registration and follow regulations.”

Dupe-Ajayi said any individual, religious organisation, political party; company or business owner who attempts to use public space for advertisement without the authorisation of the Osun Signage, Hoarding and Advertisement Agency would be arrested and prosecuted.
