The late Ondo businessman, Kayode Akinbolusere
The family of an Ondo-based businessman, Kayode Akinbolusere, has raised concerns over the circumstances surrounding his death, calling on security agencies to investigate a video he recorded shortly before his body was discovered in his office.
The 46-year-old estate owner, popularly known as Tolufe, died on Thursday in Igba, Ondo State, after allegedly consuming a poisonous substance.
In the video, which was released before his death, Akinbolusere spoke about his business difficulties and declared that his properties should be transferred to his wife, Esther, and their three children, who reside in Canada.
Although the businessman stated in the recording that the decision was entirely his, his uncle, Femi Akinbolusere, questioned the circumstances surrounding its production, citing what he described as unusual expressions and mannerisms.
The uncle expressed suspicion that the businessman might have been coerced into making the recording, urging the police to subject the footage to detailed forensic examination to establish whether any third party was involved.
Consequently, the family has called for a thorough investigation, including an autopsy and the questioning of potential witnesses, to determine the actual circumstances surrounding his death.
However, the Ondo State Police Command said an initial examination of the body revealed no visible marks of violence. The police spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday.
The police also said operatives recovered two empty bottles suspected to have contained insecticide from a nearby bush. Meanwhile, the deceased’s remains had been deposited at the State Hospital mortuary for preservation and post-mortem examination as investigations continued. (Western Post)
