All is now set for the 2016 Umu-Anioma Convention scheduled to hold on Monday, December, 26, 2016 at Orchids Hotels in Asaba, Delta State.

Pat Utomi, a Professor of Political Economy, Lagos Business School will be the Keynote Speaker while Chief Ben Elue, former Deputy Governor, Delta State will chair the convention.

Other personalities expected at the occasion include: HRM Obi Charles Anyasi III of Idumuje-Unor, HRM Obi Henry Kikachukwu I of Ubulu Unor, HRM Paul Ifeneshiuche, The Igwete of Amai Kingdom and HRH Obi (Dr.) Martha Dunkwu, Omu of Okpanam/Anioma. Others are Dr. Joseph Egwu, Elder Dr. Chukwuma Nwaonicha amongst others.

Already 10 beautiful ladies of Anioma extract have registered to contest for the Miss Umu-Anioma Beauty Pageant which is part of the events of the 2016 Umu-Anioma World Convention.

Some of the contestants lined up for the hot competition include: Miss Oshimili North, Sandra Nkemakolam Obi; Miss Aniocha South, Jennifer Sopuluchukwu Osadebe; Miss Oshimili South, Favour Elileojo Achebo; Miss Ndokwa West, Dumebi Vanessa Ufeli; Miss Ndoni, Joyce Ifeanyi Iweka; Miss Ika South, Godsglory Chibuzor Obiajulu; Miss Aniocha North, Mitchell Oluchi Nkenchor and Miss Igbanke, Vera Amaechi Nkenchor. Others are Miss Ika North-East, Mary Ogochukwu Francis, Miss Ukwuani Valerie Ayaegbunam amongst others.

According to the Chief Executive Officer of Miss Umu-Anioma Beauty Pageant, Mr. Emmanuel Ohai, these contestants will be drilled in four major areas in order to be selected as the Beauty Pageant Winner, including traditional outfit, platform competition (catwalk), photogenic, evening gown and interview session.

Ohai also said that the first prize winner will get N100, 000; second prize, N50, 000 and third prize, N25, 000. Other fringe benefits, the CEO hinted include one year contract to promote the Anioma heritage around the globe. "Ultimately, one gorgeous contestant will take home the crown in 2017,” the organisers said.

Prof. Utomi will be the Keynote Speaker while Chief Elue will chair the convention.

The theme of this year’s convention is: Discussion On The Determinants of Prosperity. Another major activity in form of talent hunt has equally been incorporated.
