One Amina Yakubu, a house wife, is currently in police custody for allegedly torturing her four-year-old step son with hot pressing iron.
Al-amin Yakubu the four-year-old, leaves with his step mother at Kura Street Layin Aminu Kano Mando in Kaduna, after his father divorced his mother ten months ago.
The case was reported to the police by a Kaduna-based Civil Society Organization Arrida Relief Foundation of Nigerian.
The suspect in an interview on Friday at Mando police outpost, Kawo Division, however, insisted that it was a Dog that attacked the boy who is currently receiving treatment at a private hospital in Mando.
Our reporter however, gathered from the suspect’s neighbours that torture of the victim by Amina has been going on for ten months.
“She beats the little boy to pulp everyday and pour could water on him. We even thought she had some kind of mental problem because pupils in the nursery where she teaches also suffer from her frequent beating,” one of her neighbours said.
Yakubu Yusuf a plumber and father of little Al-Amin, while confirming the torture said he has issued a divorce to her in her cell at the police outpost and that she should not set foot into his house.
Yusuf, who is married to four wives, had also divorced little Al-amin’s mother and handed custody to Amina, when contacted, expressed shock over the incident.
“I never noticed that she always subject Al-Amin to this inhuman act until now because I only return home in the night after I leave for work in the morning,” he said.
Hajiya Rabi Salisu Founder of Arrida Relief Foundation, the CSO that discovered and reported the case to the Police while demanding for justice also called on the state government to take drastic measures against rampant cases of torture and rape of minors in the state.
“If she says it was a dog that attacked Al-Amin, then how comes, the dog did not attack her biological daughter who is about the age of Al-Amin?” Rabi asked.
Police spokesperson, ASP Aliyu Usman, when contacted said a full report was still being expected from the Division and assured that, the Police will make public their findings as soon as investigation is concluded.
