Nigeria’s headline inflation rate fell to 15.43 percent in July 2026, down from 24.94 percent recorded in July 2025, according to the latest figures released by the National Bureau of Statistics.
The latest data indicate a significant easing in year-on-year inflation over the 12-month period, reflecting a broader moderation in the rate of price increases in the Nigerian economy.
On a month-on-month basis, however, inflation stood at 1.57 percent in July, compared with 1.66 percent in June 2026.
The figures show that while prices continued to rise in July, the pace of monthly increase moderated compared with the previous month.
Year-on-year inflation has generally maintained a downward trend over the past year, falling from 24.94 percent in July 2025 to 15.43 percent in July 2026, although fluctuations were recorded in some months.
The latest decline comes amid ongoing efforts by the Federal Government and monetary authorities to stabilise the economy and ease pressure on consumers and businesses.
The NBS is expected to provide further details on the drivers of the July inflation rate, including movements in food and non-food prices. (Arise News)
