“Neighbours came out this morning to behold the horrible sight and were helping to remove the bodies from under the rubble. The sight was too much for me I had to leave the place”.
A torrential downpour has been lashing Calabar for three days non-stop, effectively leaving many parts of the city like Uwanse, Mayne Avenue, Palm Street, Mortala Mohammed Highway, and 8Miles, heavily flooded.

The rain has brought economic activities, particularly nightlife, to a standstill as residents hardly go out even those with cars are scared of driving out of their homes because of the flood.
“It is when you are sure you will get to your destination that would encourage you to drive out. With the rate of flooding in the city, you and your car could be swept off”. Daniel Osum, declared. (Vanguard)
