Gov Adeleke, IGP Disu
The Osun State Police Command has explained why Government House, Osogbo, has not been accessed seven days after Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, alleged that wanted criminals were hibernating in the facility.
The Nation recalls that during his visit to Osun State ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election, Disu told Governor Ademola Adeleke that wanted criminals were hiding in the Government House. In response, the governor said that if his son was found to have committed any crime, he should be arrested.
Speaking during a stakeholders’ interface on credible elections organised by the International Press Centre (IPC) in partnership with the European Union, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, said the command could not access the Government House without following due process.
According to him, the Government House enjoys certain protections, and the police must comply with laid-down procedures to avoid allegations of infringing on the governor’s privacy.
He said: “The Government House has its own immunity and, as the IGP has said, there are procedures we need to follow before accessing it. Otherwise, we will be alleged or accused of infringing on the governor’s privacy, which is a serious allegation.
“We are being careful. We are taking our time and following the processes and procedures for accessing it. We are still working on the information available to ensure that if we access the Government House, we will go straight and do what we want to do.”
Ojelabi said the command would follow all necessary procedures in arresting the wanted criminals allegedly hibernating in the Government House.
He added that security operatives would also intensify efforts to apprehend other criminal elements across the state, irrespective of where they were hiding.
“The Commissioner of Police has directed Divisional Police Officers and Area Commanders to go after criminal hideouts outside the Government House. Wherever they are hiding, they should go after them,” he said. (The Nation, excluding headline)
