Britains King Charles meets President Tinubu
The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has highlighted the significance of President Bola Tinubu’s ongoing visit to the United Kingdom, describing it as a strategic move aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s economic diplomacy and global partnerships.
The party, In a statement issued on Wednesday in Lagos by its spokesman, Seye Oladejo, said the trip would create opportunities for critical economic engagements capable of enhancing investment flows and trade relations between Nigeria and the UK.
Oladejo noted that the visit would provide a platform for high-level discussions with government officials, investors and development partners across key sectors, including infrastructure development, energy transition and technology transfer.
He added that deliberations would also extend to education, security cooperation and the expansion of opportunities for Nigerian businesses in global markets.
According to him, the initiative represents a major step toward modernising Nigeria’s port infrastructure, improving trade efficiency and consolidating the country’s position as a leading maritime hub in West Africa.
Oladejo further stated that the engagement reflects Nigeria’s commitment to deepening international partnerships, expanding economic cooperation and advancing the Renewed Hope Agenda of the current administration.
He emphasised that in an increasingly globalised economy, sustained engagement with strategic partners such as the United Kingdom remains essential for attracting foreign investment, boosting trade and promoting sustainable development.
Describing the UK as a longstanding economic ally, the APC chieftain expressed optimism that the visit would unlock fresh opportunities for foreign direct investment, strengthen bilateral trade ties and create jobs.
He also pointed to Tinubu’s record as former governor of Lagos State as evidence of his ability to leverage international partnerships for domestic growth and development.
Oladejo therefore urged Nigerians to view the visit within the broader framework of nation-building and economic diplomacy, expressing confidence that its outcomes would enhance Nigeria’s economic prospects and global standing. (Nigerian Tribune)
