A great number of people living in Anambra state have praised the Anambra state government for carrying out awareness campaign to tell the people about the existence of the Anambra state free education policy.
Staff members of the Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board (ASUBEB) led processions on major roads in the state, distributing leaflets that conveyed message to the people about the existence of the Anambra state free education policy.
Again, the gaily dressed Anambra state education officers used sound systems mounted on moving buses to warn parents that they would face dire consequences if they allowed their children and wards to hawk wares on street during school hours instead of enrolling them in schools.
The Anambra state free education policy, which took effect some years ago, is designed to offer Anambra children free and quality primary and post-primary school education.
Speaking on the ASUBEB awareness campaign, a medical practitioner, Dr. Dubem Onyemesi, said that that the implementation of the Anambra state free education policy would offer kids from poor homes the opportunity to acquire basic education, thereby eradicating illiteracy among us.
“Nobody will be an illiterate in Anambra state if we send our children to school to acquire education. Because of the existence of the Anambra state free education policy, poverty will not prevent children from poor homes from acquiring basic education,” Onyemesi said.
Another commenter on the Anambra state free education policy, Mrs. Mmesoma Anyaogu, said that our children’s acquisition of education would equip them with the knowledge to become good leaders in the future.
She further praised the Anambra State Government for implementing the policy, saying our children’s acquisition of knowledge would enable them know their civic responsibilities and how to perform them.
On his part, Francis Nzeakor said that one of the advantages of the free education policy is that it would prevent our children from getting involved in criminal activities.
“Devil finds work for idle hands. But when our children are busy studying their books in schools, they will not get involved in criminal deeds.
“I am thanking the Anambra state government for lifting the burden of payment of school fees of their children and wards off the shoulders of parents,” Nzeakor said.
