APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka
The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has reacted following a mild drama at the national secretariat on Monday after a chieftain of the party from Delta State picked the form for the office of National Secretary, contrary to the zoning arrangement for national offices.
Checks revealed that at the party's National Executive Committee meeting held last December at the State House, leaders of the party resolved to sustain the existing zoning formula to keep the office of National Chairman and National Secretary in the North-Central and South-West, while the position of National Publicity Secretary was retained in the South-South.
Further checks revealed that the zoning template equally micro-zoned the positions to states with Plateau, Osun, and Delta States getting the slots.
The zoning formula retained the position of Deputy National Chairman (North) in Borno state, Deputy National Chairman (South) in Enugu, and Deputy National Secretary in Nasarawa State.
Investigations revealed that there is an understanding to return the majority of the existing national working committee members to their positions, as the party has resolved to settle for the consensus option.
Speaking with journalists, Honourable Paul Oyiborume Yovwe, however, expressed dissatisfaction that he was denied the Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms for the office of National Secretary despite payment for the form.
He further dismissed clarification that the office has been zoned to the South-West as he claimed that it was zoned to the south, not the South-West.
In a separate statement, National Publicity Secretary of the party, Barrister Felix Morka, urged aspirants seeking positions ahead of the March 27th to 28th National Convention to be guided by the existing zoning arrangement for National Working Committee positions.
His statement read: “As contained in the published All Progressives Congress (APC) 2026 Schedule of Nationwide Congresses, National Convention, and Related Activities, the existing zoning arrangement for National working Committee positions across states within the geo-political zones remains valid and applicable to the upcoming for National Convention
“Accordingly, aspirants purchasing and submitting Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms for national offices ahead of the National Convention are advised to be strictly guided by the existing zoning arrangement.” (Nigerian Tribune)
