Kaduna South LGA Chairman, Hon Rayyan Hussain, signing endorsement documents
By GARBA MUHAMMAD, Kaduna
The Chairman of Kaduna South Local Government Area, Hon. Rayyan Hussain, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to accountability and inclusive governance with the formal endorsement of the Open Government Partnership (OGP) co-creation process.
By endorsing the OGP Strategic Vision and Action Plan on February 25, 2026, the chairman signalled the council’s resolve to institutionalise transparency, strengthen citizen participation and deepen open governance practices at the grassroots.
The endorsement establishes a collaborative framework between the local government and Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), aimed at improving service delivery, particularly in the health sector and rebuilding public trust.
Hussain explained that the co-creation process was driven by structured consultations, dialogue and sustained engagement involving government departments, agencies and civil society actors.
According to him, the initiative aligns with the core principles of OGP, especially citizen participation and inclusiveness, and is expected to enhance accountability mechanisms within the local government system.
“The co-creation process reflects our shared commitment to improving governance outcomes through transparency and active citizen engagement,” he said.
The chairman acknowledged the pivotal role of civil society in identifying priority governance and service delivery challenges, proposing practical and measurable milestones, and supporting implementation, monitoring and feedback processes.
He noted that CSOs would continue to play a strategic role in mobilising citizens and sustaining engagement throughout the OGP implementation cycle.
Hussain further outlined the council’s commitments to include faithful implementation of the jointly agreed strategic vision and action plan, sustained collaboration with civil society partners, and openness in monitoring, reporting and evaluation.
He also assured stakeholders of an enabling environment to guarantee sustained partnership between government and civil society.
“This endorsement represents our official commitment to advancing transparent, accountable and participatory governance for the benefit of all residents of Kaduna South,” he added.
The Open Government Partnership is a global initiative that secures commitments from governments to promote transparency, empower citizens, fight corruption and harness technology to strengthen governance.
