CP Orutugu addressing the newly trained police officers on Wednesday
By PAMELA EBOH, Awka
Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has underscored the importance of rigorous training and operational readiness among newly trained officers before their deployment for service within the Command.
He did this on Wednesday while addressing officers who were formally handed over for combat and armed drills training at the Police College Oji River.
CP Orutugu emphasised that effective policing requires not only numerical strength but discipline, tactical competence, emotional intelligence, and respect for the rule of law.
He charged the constables to take their training serious, noting that the evolving security landscape demands officers who are physically fit, mentally alert, professionally grounded, and guided by the principles of accountability and human rights.
According to him, combat and armed drills training remain critical components in preparing officers to respond decisively and lawfully to emerging threats.
He however reassured residents of the state of the Command’s unwavering commitment to sustaining safety across communities, stressing that the deployment of well-trained personnel will strengthen ongoing operations against violent crimes, kidnapping, cultism, and other forms of criminality.
The CP further expressed appreciation to the state Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, for his continued support toward security initiatives, even as he reiterated that the training aligns with the broader vision of the Nigeria Police Force to enhance capacity building, professionalism, and operational effectiveness.
He observed that this development marks another strategic step in reinforcing the Command’s manpower and sustaining proactive policing efforts to protect lives and property across Anambra State.
