Cloudflare, the tech company that provides services for a wide range of apps and websites, said it was working to fix an internal issue after experiencing service disruptions early Monday.
The company identified the problem around 7 a.m. Eastern and began implementing a fix, though the cause and the full impact were not immediately clear.
Users first reported issues on Down detector, an online outage tracker. Some also flagged problems on X and Amazon Web Services, but it was unclear whether those disruptions were directly linked to Cloudflare’s outage.
Cloudflare, which helps websites secure and manage internet traffic, said on its website that it had identified an issue and was rolling out a fix.
The outage notice said that “some customers using Cloudflare Data Loss Prevention (DLP) suite may see intermittent errors for traffic in this datacenter.”
The company did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Cloudflare provides tools that protect websites from cyberattacks and improve how online content is delivered.
Its systems help block malicious traffic and route users to nearby servers for faster access. Smaller websites often use its free services, while larger platforms such as X pay for broader coverage.
This is not the first disruption tied to major internet infrastructure providers. In November, Cloudflare experienced an outage after a software crash caused widespread service interruptions.
In October, Amazon Web Services also faced service problems that affected many online platforms. Days later, Microsoft Azure reported its own outage.
Earlier, in the summer of 2024, an outage at CrowdStrike led to a global IT disruption that affected airlines, hospitals and other services. (The New York Times)
