By DEBORAH AKPEDE
The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service has rescued an 84-year-old man who fell into a well in Aboru, Agbado Oke-Odo LCDA.
The Controller General, Mrs Margaret Adeseye, confirmed the rescue in a statement issued on Tuesday in Lagos.
Adeseye said the incident occurred at No. 35A, Fadeyemi Street, Pipeline area, Aboru.
She stated that the service received a distress call at exactly 10:09 a.m. reporting a rescue emergency at the location.
“Upon receiving the call, our rescue crew and Abesan Fire Station personnel were immediately deployed,” Adeseye said.
She added that the responders arrived at the scene at about 10:20 a.m.
“The victim fell into a well estimated to be about 140 feet deep,” Adeseye disclosed.
She noted that preliminary observations suggested a suspected suicide attempt, as the well was adequately secured and covered.
Adeseye said the man was successfully rescued alive by emergency responders.
She added that the victim was handed over to his family for further medical and personal attention.
According to her, the exact cause of the incident remains under investigation.
Adeseye reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to prompt emergency response across the state.
She urged residents to seek help and report emergencies through appropriate channels whenever they are in distress. (NAN)
