Protesting FCT workers
By PHILIP YATAI
Mrs Nancy Nathan, Acting Head of the Civil Service, Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), has directed all FCT workers to resume work on Wednesday.
Nathan, who gave the directive in a circular on Tuesday in Abuja, also directed Permanent Secretaries, Heads of Departments and Agencies to maintain a staff attendance register to ensure compliance.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the FCT workers had on Jan. 19 begun an indefinite strike over unresolved welfare issues.
She explained that the directive followed the Court Order by Justice E. Subilim of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria, directing FCT workers under the Joint Union Action Congress (JUAC) to suspend the strike.
“Accordingly, all members of staff are to resume duties immediately at their various duty posts.
“Consequently, all Permanent Secretaries and Heads of Departments and Agencies are directed by this circular to maintain a staff attendance register.
“Please, bring the contents of this circular to the attention of all concerned for immediate compliance,” she said.
The Head of Service reiterated the FCT Administration’s commitment to the welfare of workers. (NAN)
