Lagos residents have been advised to restrain their movements on the roads in view of the persistent rain of high intensity that commenced a few days ago.
A short statement uploaded today on the official Facebook Page of the Lagos State Government reads: “Like every coastal city, Lagos is prone to flash floods when rain of such intensity is experienced. This advice became necessary in order to avoid gridlock on our roads as a result of the temporary flash which will disappear over time.
“The State Government on its part had cleared all our primary and secondary channels in order to ensure that flooding incidences are reduced to the barest minimum. The various teams of the state emergency flood abatement department have been deployed to major highways to ensure that any crisis areas are desilted.”
