Former Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation, Jibrin Abdulmumin, on Thursday demanded that the Minister of Finance, Accountant General of the Federation, Attorney General of the Federation and Clerk of National Assembly.
The call, he said is exercise of “my right as a citizen of Nigeria to stop with immediate effect further payments of running cost of Members of House of Reps.”
He also urged Nigerian individual and companies as well as Ministries Departments and Agencies to shun invitations from the Reps “until the House allows for a transparent investigation of individual and systemic corruption in collaboration with external investigation.”
He said he has since submitted the “first list of 50 names of members involved in running cost fraud forwarded to (the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission) EFCC, calling for wide ranging reforms to restore the battered image of the House and strengthen it to effectively discharge its mandates.
“As an insider, I know that such money have been and are diverted into private pockets. No law in Nigeria that is intended to protect corruption, so the continuous payment of such money is a disservice to the nation and negates the spirit of establishing such laws in the first place.
Such endemic corruption, he continued, in his series of tweets, is “why did you think the House could not do anything to Diezani Allison-Madueke during the 7th Assembly when she shunned and dared the House?
“In due course I will narrate story of how she met a senior member of the body of Principal Officers of the 7th Assembly in the Aso Drive. (Independent)
