This is just as they called on both the federal and State government to curtail the spate of killings as well as deploy relief materials to alleviate continuing hardship been suffered by victims.
The resolution of the lawmakers followed a motion form the member representing Jema’a Constituency, Hon. Labari Shelly Tella who had briefed the house on the activities of herdsmen in his constituency.
He said attacks was carried out by armed Fulani militia twice within one month in six communities of Ninte, Gada biyu, Golkofar, Dogon fili, Antang and Unguwar Anjo of Godogodo chiefdom in Jema’a Local Government.
Added that “the communities areas were concurrently attacked aggressively claiming innocent lives mostly women and children, crops worth millions of naira have been destroyed by herdsmen and number of houses have been burnt down. Victims are left to fend for themselves without any form of support from the Government, as it is, they lack basic necessities to ameliorate their suffering and many more are living under harrowing conditions.”
The lawmaker added that situation was deliberately mismanaged and grossly compromised allowing the killings to continue unabated.
He alleged that the duo of the Area Commander and the DPO in Kafanchan lack professionalism and failed to play neutral roles and bias.
“It is critical to note that my people in the affected communities are questioning the integrity of the two police officers and their capability to return the situation to normalcy. And as such,” I call for their immediate redeployment so as to bring more capable hands to forestall the already bad situation from becoming worse,” he said.
Other lawmakers, who contributed to the motion, said the continuing loss of the productive capacity of the population will continue unabated if the government failed to act appropriately.
The unanimously called on both the federal and State government to deploy more security in the affected communities to curtail the spate of attacks and boost public confidence to enable fleeing residents return home. (LEADERSHIP)
