Ailing Actor Tom Njemanze
Popular Nollywood actor, Tom Njemanze, is currently fighting for his life after being diagnosed with prostate cancer, and his colleagues in the movie industry are now calling on the public to help save him.
The emotional appeal came to light on Monday after actor and filmmaker, Stanley Ajemba, popularly known as Stanley Ontop, posted a video on Instagram showing the veteran on a hospital bed, receiving treatment with a drip in his hand and an oxygen cylinder by his side.
According to Stanley, the actor’s health has deteriorated and he urgently needs surgery to survive.
He made a public appeal, urging fans, friends, and well-meaning Nigerians to contribute financially to cover medical costs.
“Hello guys, one of our Nollywood legends is sick and needs urgent surgery. Sir Tom Njamanze has been diagnosed with prostate cancer, and he needs your support to undergo surgery.
Nothing is too small, fams. Help our legend live again. Send to this account,” Stanley said, as he shared the bank details for donations.
Tom Njemanze is one of the strong voices from Nollywood’s golden age, with memorable performances in “Pounds and Dollars”, “Brain Box”, “Magic Cap”, “Twin Brothers”, and “Caesar to Caesar”. His role in “Pounds and Dollars” especially made him a fan favourite in the mid-2010s.
Stanley also included an old video clip of Njemanze acting alongside Nollywood greats Nkem Owoh and the late Sam Loco Efe, stirring emotional reactions from fans and industry colleagues online.
Actress Evans Okoro also joined the campaign by sharing Njemanze’s health condition in a post on Instagram, asking for public support to raise funds for the needed surgery. (The Guardian)
