Abuja, Jan. 17, 2025 (NAN) The Nigerian Technical Aid Corps (NTAC) says over 10,000 Technical Aid Corps (TAC) volunteers have been sent to 40 African, Caribbean and the Pacific (ACP) countries since inception in 1987.

Dr Yusuf Yakub, the Director-General (D-G) of NTAC said this in a statement by Nkem Anyata-Lafia, his Special Assistant, Media and Publicity, on Friday in Abuja.

Yakub had led a delegation on a visit to some officials of the government of Seychelles in Victoria, where some TAC volunteers are serving.

He said that the delegation was in the country to strengthen existing bilateral relations between both countries in the area of technical aid and to also monitor the progress of the volunteers.

According to him, that Nigerian professionals have continued to make significant differences in sectors like education, engineering, medical services, and nursing.

Meanwhile, Dr. Bernard Valentin, the Principal Secretary at the Seychelles’ Ministry of Health, commended the NTAC delegation for the visit.

Valentin also commended the efforts of the Nigerian government for the very robust and productive TAC scheme.

He said that the Scheme had continued to strengthen the capacity of some of the country’s professionals to deliver on their mandates, thereby bridging the skilled and professional gaps in his country.

He requested for more TAC volunteers adding that, the ministry would formally send to Nigeria its request for Volunteer doctors, nurses, engineers, and medical statisticians, through the country’s foreign affairs ministry.

Other officials who accompanied the NTAC D-G were, Amb. Aliyu Mande, the Actimg High Commissioner of Nigerian to Kenya with concurrent accreditation to Seychelles, and Amb. Usman Zakari, the Director of Programmes at the Corps. (NAN)
