A Federal High Court in Abuja has adjourned the trial of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu till September 26.
Kanu is standing trial for treason, management of unlawful group, smuggling of radio transmitters and firearms.
He had lost previous appeals to stop the trial.
At the resumed hearing on Monday, Kanu’s lead counsel, Chuks Mouma threatened to withdraw from the trial because one of his clients, Benjamin Madubugwu replaced him with another lead counsel.
He told the judge that his appearance would become conditional unless he received clarification from his client.
However, Amobi Nzelu, the new counsel to the second defendant, appealed to the senior lawyer for understanding, saying that Madubugwu had hired him
In reaction, Mouma filed a motion for an adjournment to enable Madubugwu’s lawyer and the prosecution to study and to respond to the application.
With no objection from the prosecution, the judge adjourned the case to September 26 for hearing of the motion and for trial. (TV360Nigeria.com)
