Three Nigerians among top 10 most popular Africans on social media

Nigerian entertainers Davido, Wizkid and Mark Angel have made the list of most popular Africans on social media including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.

Egyptian skipper Mohamed Salah is the most popular person in Africa, having 98.2 million followers across social media.

Music star Davido, who is the most followed in Nigeria, is 6thmost followed entertainer in Africa with 61.5 million followers across all social media.

Superstar Wizkid is second most followed entertainer in Nigeria and 9thmost followed in Africa with a total of 42.3 million followers.

Comedian Mark Angel is third most followed Nigerian and 10thmost followed entertainer in Africa.

A total of six Egyptians, three Nigerian and one South African made the list of 10.

Here is a list of top 10 most popular Africans on social media

1.Mohamed Salah (98.2 million)

Mohamed Salah is an Egyptian professional footballer who plays as a right winger or forward for Premier League club Liverpool and captains the Egypt national team.

2.Mustafa Hosny (84 million)

Mustafa Hosny is a televangelist and Islamic preacher who presented his first show in 2004 and has gone on to become a household name.

3.Mohamed Ramadan(80.1 million)

Mohamed Ramadan is an Egyptian actor, singer, rapper, dancer and producer.

4.Tamer Hosny (74.1 million)

Tamer Hosny is an Egyptian singer, actor, composer, director and songwriter.

He first came to public attention when he appeared on mixed tapes with other Egyptian artists.

5.Amr Diab (63.4 million)

Amr Abdel is an Egyptian singer, composer and actor.

He has established himself as a globally acclaimed recording artist and author.

He isGuinness World Record holder, the best selling Middle Eastern artist, a seven-times winner of World Music Awards and five-times winner of Platinum Records.

6.Davido (61.5 million).

David Adedeji Adelekepopularly known as Davido is a Nigerian singer, songwriter and record producer.

He is regarded as one of the most important Afrobeats artists of the 21stcentury, and is credited alongside Burna Boy and Wizkid for popularizing the genre globally.

7.Amr Khaled (53.9 million).

Amr Mohamed is an Egyptian Muslim activist and television preacher.

The New York Times Magazine, in reference to Khaleds popularity in English-speaking countries, described him in 2006 as the worlds most famous and influential Muslim television preacher.

8.Ab de Villiers (47.3 million).

Abraham Benjamin is a South African former international cricketer, and a current commentator.

AB de Villiers was named as the ICC ODI Player of the Year three times during his 15-year international career and was one of the five Wisden cricketers of the decade at the end of 2019.

He Is regarded as one of the greatest cricketers in the history of the sport and as one of the best batsmen of his era.

9.Wizkid (42.3 million).

Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, known professionally as Wizkid, is a Nigerian singer and songwriter.

A prominent figure in the modern day Afrobeats music scene, he is regarded as one of the most commercially successful and most influential African recording artists of the 21stcentury.

10.Mark Angel (40 million)

Mark Angel is a Nigerian comedian, scriptwriter, and video producer.

He is best known for the Mark Angel Comedy series of shorts on YouTube, often featuring child comedians such as his cousin, Emmanuella Samuel, his niece, and her cousin Aunty Success Madubuike.

Angels YouTube channel was the first African comedy channel to reach one million subscribers. (The Nation)
