The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMET) has made the following predictions about Nigeria’s weather condition for today, Wednesday, January 13, 2016:
NORTHERN STATES: Thick dust haze will be experienced over places like Kano, Katsina, Sokoto and Maiduguri. Poorer visibility values of less than 1,000m may occur in areas like Kano, Yelwa and Maiduguri. Night time temperatures are expected to be in the range of 11-15oC.
CENTRAL STATES: Moderate dust haze is anticipated with visibility values of 2-4km over Abuja, Zaria, Bida, Yola and Lafia. Temperatures in the night are expected to be between 10-19oC.
SOUTHERN STATES: Morning hours will be misty while partly cloudy conditions are probable in the afternoon over coastal cities such as Lagos, Uyo, Port Harcourt and Calabar. Hazy conditions are expected to prevail over the inland areas like Akure, Ibadan, Enugu, Asaba and Owerri in the afternoon. Night time temperatures is likely to be in the range of 12-26oC.
NOTE: During this period of the year, the atmosphere is usually very dry, windy and dusty. Citizens should avoid substances that may ignite easily to reduce incidences of fire outbreaks.
